Up Your Wind Kite Festival takes to the skies

For over 20 years, Pacific Beach has been the site for the annual Up Your Wind Kite Festival. Head to the Pacific Beach State Park Friday-Sunday, September 6-8 for the 2019 version.
This is a non-competitive event. Just come and enjoy the kites in flight. Or bring yours to join the colorful display. Whether you have the traditional diamond kite (think Charlie Brown) or a sled or barn door, these all share the sky off Joe Creek on the beach at the state park.
Look for creatures in the air! There have been lions (well, maybe), tigers and bears, oh, my... Dorothy!
This is an easy to access festival. You may make your reservations and stay at the Pacific Beach State Park.
Just down the street, you'll find Sand Dollar Inn, some rooms offer a view of the kites in flight. Book through oceanshores.com a room in the inn or one of the homes available through the website's central reservations including the Beach Dawg House, Anchor In or other lodging in Moclips.
While you're in the North Beach, make a stop at Museum of the North Beach on SR 109 in Moclips, open 11 am-4 pm over this festival weekend.
