The Rev. Bryce Wiebe, Director of Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Special Offerings will be the guest preacher 10:30 am, Sunday, March 10 at St. John’s Chapel by the Sea (PCUSA). The Presbyterian Mission Agency chose the North Beach church for this honor because of the chapel's support for the FOUR special PCUSA offerings promoted and collected each year.

“We are a 4 for 4 church. ‘If we all do a little, it adds up to a lot!’ This is a meaningful and faithful way to connect us nationally and support mission work globally,” said the Rev. Dr. Linda Flatley, pastor at St. John’s Chapel by the Sea.

Serving as the Director of Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) Special Offerings, the Rev. Wiebe seeks to connect Presbyterians to the impact of shared mission and inspire their participation. By receiving all four of the PCUSA Special Offerings (One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost, Peace & Global Witness and Christmas Joy), a Four for Four congregation declares its connection to the denomination’s ministries. This allows for one church to join with Presbyterians around the corner and around the world sharing God’s grace and endless love, according to PCUSA Special offerings.

Sunday, March 10 is the first Sunday as part of the One Great Hour of Sharing (OGHS) which is during the season of Lent (beginning Ash Wednesday, March 6 through Easter Sunday, April 21 in 2019.) This is also celebrates 70 years of this offering. A gift to OGHS enables PCUSA to share to neighbors-in-need around the world through three programs: Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Presbyterian Hunger Program and Self-Development of People.

Prior to this, the Rev. Wiebe worked with the Presbyterian Hunger Program. providing resources and opportunities for Christians to consider the ways they spend money as an opportunity for Christian discipleship.

Before coming to Louisville, KY home of Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), the Rev. Wiebe served as Christian Educator at First Presbyterian Church in New Haven, Connecticut, where he wrote children’s plays, developed educational materials, created worship experiences, and led Bible studies that engaged issues of economic justice.

The Rev. Wiebe holds an MDiv from Yale Divinity School and BA degrees in Music and Business Administration from Hastings College and retains part-ownership of a small, sourdough bread bakery in Nebraska. When not working, you can find him in the kitchen or at the gym, where he explores God’s many forms of nourishment.
